Public Affairs Section
The Public Affairs Section (PAS) is tasked with providing accurate, reliable and timely information to the general public about the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office and public safety information.   In order to do this effectively, the Public Information Officer must balance the public’s need for information with the preservation of confidential investigative material. The Public Information Officer must also make every effort to safeguard the rights of individual victims in order to prevent them from being victimized further.
The Public Affairs Section uses print, television, radio, social media and any other available avenues for communication as a means of delivering information to the public.  The Public Affairs Section is also responsible for every aspect relating to the development and use and management of the sheriff’s brand. This section is supervised by the Public Information Officer (PIO) and reports to the Sheriff.
