The Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office Research and Development Department (R&D) is dedicated to leading progressive action through innovation. The mission of Research and Development is to provide guidance, expertise, and support for the agency. Keeping in mind that the agency is an ever-growing multi-faceted evolution of modern day policing, we strive to provide and research product improvement, project management, and efficiency management.
The R&D department has a LIBRS team that has worked exclusively to acquire LIBRS certification from the Louisiana Commission of Law Enforcement (LCLE). The Louisiana Incident Based Reporting System (LIBRS) is the new data reporting standard for all Louisiana Law Enforcement agencies that is replacing the Uniformed Crime Reporting (UCR). The Grant Coordinator applies for new grants, and manages and assists with the existing grants for the department.
