Major Dondi Hardin began his law enforcement career as a corrections officer with the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office in 1990. In 1991, Major Hardin graduated from the Acadiana Law Enforcement Training Academy where he progressed his career in the Enforcement Division, becoming a patrol deputy. He went on to work various assignments including as a Field Training Officer, Intelligence Agent, Detective, Metro Narcotics Agent, a member of U. S. Marshals Task Force and as a SWAT operator.
Throughout his decades-long career, Major Hardin has attended more than 100 law enforcement and leadership-related schools.
Major Hardin served as the Assistant Chief of Police of Carencro for more than 13 years. In this position he gained extensive experience related to internal affairs, human resources, policy and procedure, officer training and development, records, fleet operations and evidence management.
Major Hardin returned to the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office under Sheriff Garber’s administration in 2016.
